Westchester County features a plethora of festivities during the fall. From scenic spots for fall foliage, to numerous haunted houses, October is one of the best months to be a resident here. With so much going on, it may be tough to find something that’s right for you. We’ve gone through and found the best events for various age groups and interests. Looking for the scariest attraction in all of Westchester County? Horseman’s Hallow is an intense walk-through haunted attraction that is a dark twist on Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hallow.” Visitors will begin by walking along a haunted trail, and experience a town that has been driven mad by a headless horseman. You’ll then progress into Ichabod’s Schoolhouse, where you will go through a maze before entering the lair of the Horseman. Tickets can be purchased here, and they do tend to sell out.
Recommended for those ages 10 or older. Not for those who are claustrophobic or have heart and/or respiratory issues.
Lasdon Park Halloween Train Show
Where: Lasdon Park: 2610 State Route 35, Katonah, NY 10536
When: Every Weekend in October from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cost: $10 for ages 13+, $5 for ages 12 and under.
For those who have children under 8 that don’t like to get spooked, this family-friendly event goes on throughout October and is held rain-or-shine. This year, the whole Arbitorium and park will be decked out in an Alice in Wonderland theme called “Down the Rabbit Hole Walk.” The trains will be on display in the main house, while the outdoor dinosaur garden will remain open with a meet-and-greet available at select times. You and your family will also be able to enjoy a hay maze, live entertainment, and face painting.

When: Friday nights from 8 to 11 p.m.
Saturday nights from 7 to 11 p.m.
Sunday nights from 7 to 10 p.m.
During every weekend during October, you’ll get the chance to explore two haunted houses, a haunted cornfield, and a long terrifying walk in the woods. This attraction takes about 30 to 40 minutes, and is dependent on weather. Tickets can be bought at the door.
16th Annual Tarrytown Halloween Parade

Where: Downtown area of Tarrytown, NY
When: Saturday, October 28 at 5:30 p.m.
(Rain Date: Sunday, October 29)
This is one of the most popular parades within Westchester County. The parade will begin on Broadway by Patriots Park, and will end on Main Street by the Tarrytown firehouse. Afterwards, enjoy a block party on Main Street, filled with various vendors and live entertainment.
